VN’s Permanent Mission inaugurates new headquarters in Geneva

VGP – Deputy PM Vu Van Ninh on September 15 cut the ribbons to inaugurate the new headquarters of Viet Nam’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations and other international organizations in Geneva, Switzerland.

The event also celebrated the 70th anniversary of the August Revolution.

The cutting-ribbon ceremony also drew the attendance of the Director- General of the United Nations Office in Geneva, Ambassadors and representatives of other countries and international organizations, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Nguyen Minh Quang, and Chairman of Ha Noi Municipal People’s Committee Nguyen The Thao.

The new headquarters is located next to the former one, serving the operation of Permanent Mission staff.

It copies the design of Khue Van Cac - Constellation of Literature pavilion at the Temple of Literature, the first university of Viet Nam.

Ambassador Nguyen Trung Thanh, Head of the Permanent Mission revealed that the unique architecture drew much interests from local press and people.

Addressing the event, Deputy PM Ninh affirmed that Viet Nam is pursuing the policy of peace, national independence, multilateral diversification of international relations, and active international integration to achieve “rich people, a strong country, and a fair and civilized society.”  

He reiterated that the overseas Vietnamese community is an inseparable part of the Vietnamese nation. Thus, the Party and Government of Viet Nam highly value the great contributions of overseas Vietnamese to national development and always attach importance to the community, including those living in Switzerland./.
