Jujitsu martial artists win Asian championship golds

VGP – Vietnamese fighters won four gold medals at the Asian Jujitsu Championships which closed on May 6 in the UAE.

The most successful athlete was Phung Thi Hue who won both titles in the women’s U45kg fighting and contact categories.

The world champion did not meet any trouble beating all rivals to top the podiums.

Two other golds went to Nguyen Thi Thanh Truc in the women’s over-70kg contact and Hoang Thi Nhat Que in the women’s U70kg contact.

The Vietnamese team also secured seven silvers and 10 bronzes to finish fourth in the medal tally.

The top three teams were Thailand who won 13 golds, Kazakhstan with 12 and the hosts with six.

After the senior championship, the tournament for the juniors was kicked off.

After two days of competitions, Vietnamese competitors have grabbed five golds by Ha Thi Nhung (female U16, 40kg), Nguyen Thi Thanh Truc (female U21, over-70kg), Ngo Thi Thao Van (female U21, U63kg), Trinh Anh Thu and Phan Tuan Kiet (U16 mixed duo performance) and Trinh Thi Hoang Anh and Tran Thi Hoang Van (U18 female duo performance).

Athletes also bagged two silvers and two bronzes to place second temporally.

The junior championship will continue until May 8./.
