According to the PM, smart urban development not only helps improve the quality of life of the people, economic growth, energy saving and effective resource protection, but also orients and forecasts other risks more accurately and quickly, thereby increasing the adaptation and self-resilience of the community and urban areas.

“Viet Nam defines smart and sustainable urban development as a breakthrough direction to contribute to improving the national competitiveness,” PM Phuc affirmed.

PM Phuc also noted: "Smart urban development must be based on consideration of opportunities and risks associated with local needs and capacities, should not be perfunctory but should be carried out step by step and selectively following specific roadmap."

The PM emphasised that the development of smart cities must be closely linked with strong information infrastructure and e-government development, towards an digital government in the Fourth Industrial Revolution and urban development in Viet Nam.

Therefore, Viet Nam also chooses to follow a smart urban development direction so that the urbanisation speed of Viet Nam would be better and more efficient, as well as bringing more benefits to the people.
